Woman poses with balloons spelling the acronym for National Nanny Recognition Week

It’s a big week for the nanny industry! International Nanny Recognition Week was created for nannies, by nannies. This is the time we highlight and celebrate the contributions of nannies around the world. Families who employ nannies should make an effort to say an extra thank you to the nanny in their life, but anyone who knows a nanny can get in on the action. Any gesture from a simple “thank you for all you do” to tangible gifts will put a smile on the face and in the heart of a nanny you know.

I wanted to use this opportunity to send a message to the nannies who don’t get acknowledged, celebrated or highlighted.

Who work diligently and tirelessly to support families and this community.

The nannies who are the invisible glue and the anchor through the storms of life.

The nannies who push through silent battles to support families and the kiddos in their care.

For caregivers who give and give and give, but rarely receive.

Those who don’t yet have a squad of nanny friends, or the support of a partner or family who understand the magnitude of their contributions.

Constantly explaining and justifying a career choice with little tangible rewards and is stamped with societal stigmas of stagnation.

I want to wish you a Happy interNational Nanny Recognition Week. On behalf of your nanny family, this incredible industry, and all of society.

Your presence, your work, and your inimitable, immeasurable, indisputable impact have made this industry and this world a better place. Thank you.
